1. Go to any commercial bank and open a new checking account.
2. Make a deposit of, let's say $200.00, if the required bank minimum deposit is $100.00.
3. Request the bank to issue you a Debit/Visa Card (see a sample Debit/Visa Card below). The Debit/Visa Card will be ordered by the bank and mailed to you in about 2 weeks from your bank account opening.
4. When you receive the Debit/Visa Card, call the bank to activate the card.
5. Sign your full name at the back of the Debit/Visa Card.
6. Go to the bank to ask for your Debit/Visa Card Personal Identification Number (PIN). You will use your PIN when you pay your purchases by Debit/Visa Card.

7. Start using your Debit/Visa Card when you make purchases in the grocery stores and other businesses up to the amount of your bank deposit.
8. Make sufficient money deposits to your checking account to cover your Debit/Visa Card purchases and avoid embarrassment when your card is declined at the cashier's counter due to insufficiency of funds.

1. Visit your bank to apply for a new MasterCard or Visa Card after you have been using your Debit/Visa Card for at least 6 months. By doing so, you might be given by your bank a higher credit amount of let's say, $2,000.00. When you receive your credit card, let's say a MasterCard from your bank, you can use the MasterCard for your purchases and pay them either by installment (or minimum payment) or in lump sum payment to avoid paying for interest.
2. Photocopy the front and back of your Debit/Visa card and other credit cards for easy reference when your credit cards are stolen or misplaced.
