After you have specified your base template preference, you will have to choose your template body and footer layout.

Template Body Layout

Blogger.com offers 8 template body layouts as of this writing as shown below.

I noticed with various blogs that I visited that the most popular blog body layout is where you have the header on the top and the sidebar on the right.  Probably, the reason for that popularity is that we are used to point and click our mouse cursor on the right side of the blogs.

To select your body layout for your template, go to the Blogger.com dashboard:

1.  Click on Layout and the above sample Body Layout will appear on your screen;

2.  Point your mouse cursor on any of the body layout sample that you like; and

3.  Double-click the chosen body layout sample to copy into your template.

You can change the body layout for your template anytime you want without losing your information and images.

Template Footer Layout

Blogger.com presents 3 template footer layouts to choose from as you can see below.

To select your footer layout for your template, go to the Blogger.com dashboard:

1.  Click on Layout and the above sample footer layouts will appear on your screen;

2.  Point your mouse cursor on any of the footer layout sample that you like; and

3.  Double-click the chosen footer layout sample to copy into your template.

You can change the footer layout for your template anytime you want without losing your information and images.

Changing Your Template Layout

It is a good idea to change the body layout and/or footer layout of your blog from time to time (let's say, once a month) to "refresh" your blog for yourself and your readers.  Aside from the body layout and footer layout, you can also change the text color and font size and the background color of your entire blog.

When you successfully created your blog template layout, the next thing to do is to start writing your first blog post or article which you would like to share with others online.
